Honeycomb Predicted to be Pattern of the Year

We’ve already discussed the color of the year, Honeysuckle, and we have another honey to add to the list. While looking for inspiration we came across the 2011 Pattern of the Year Prediction on ShelterPop and low and behold it’s another honey. The predicted pattern for this year is slated to be honeycomb. Fresh out of 2010 where there was an increase in bold patterns being used on virtually everything honeycomb is  breath of fresh, textured air. The print has already been seen throughout a great deal of interior design magazines and catalogs. Take a look at a little honeycomb inspiration…

Dining Room Alternative: Semi Formal Dining

Many of us lead such busy lives that we hardly have time to sit down with our families for a meal in our formal dining rooms. And with the ever present kitchen island dining has become quick and informal. Luckily, if we don’t have time for formal dining on a regular basis there are holidays and special parties. One of the reasons we enjoy formal dining rooms so much is because of the exquisite decor reserved for them. We also revel in the fact that it’s a large room where everyone can dine together. Eating in a formal dining room daily may not be practical for everyone, but what about an alternative?

If you are longing for sit down dinners that are a little more upscale than gathering around the kitchen island, consider a semi-formal dining room. A semi-formal dining room offers all the benefits of a formal dining room but toned down for daily use. Think amazing, but slightly casual furniture, smaller amounts of luxurious fabric, not so ornate china, and a more casual centerpiece. Take a look at these examples we found and let us know where you would rather eat: in a formal dining room, a semi formal dining room or where ever you happen to crash.

Home of Rob Lowe

At Home with Rob Lowe

We are always excited to see the interior design of a celebrity’s home because the sky really is the limit for them. This month Architectural Digest featured the home of Rob Lowe who recently finished taping for ABC’s Brothers & Sisters. The home that Lowe shares with his wife Sheryl and two sons is nestled in California but resembles the style found in the Virginia area. To set the feeling of their 20-room home Lowe and his wife hired a feng shui master to arrange their furniture and accessories in a way that creates “energy patterns to optimize wealth, wellness and charisma.”

Lowe’s wife played a major role in the interior design of their home. As an avid collector many of her own pieces were used throughout as decor. Sheryl wanted the rooms filled with beautiful things while maintaining a clean design. For their master bedroom her vision included dark woods with a light, airy feeling. What do you think of the Lowes’ east coast interior design on the west coast?

Sherwin Williams Partners with Robert Allen Fabrics

I would love to promote how happy I am to see Sherwin Williams and Robert Allen Fabrics come together to create three new collections, being that my other business Exclusive Interiors is a Robert Allen Fabric gallery. The partnership is a win-win situation, they both help each other and the average customer select wonderful fabrics and paint when generally they are lost on a boat without a paddle.

I commend Jackie Jordan along with Sherwin Williams, as I attend her conference every time she is in Kansas City. She always updates us on the upcoming season of trends and forward thinking for what will be happening globally in the color world. Tell me, what do you think? Aren’t some of the names of some of the Sherwin Williams paints fascinating?

We wonder how their bedroom is decorated, what direction their celebrity interior designer chose for the great room and what do their kitchens looks like. We found a few celebrity kitchens on Attic Mag and InStyle. Take a look and tell us what you think. Are they what you expected— over the top or nice and lived in?

Iman in Your Home

Interior design continues to follows fashion. It seems as though every other week a fashion designer creates a line of home furnishings or fabric. World-renowned model Iman is now joining the ranks with her own line of fabric being sold through Calico Corners. IMAN Home is inspired by her Somalian heritage featuring bold, contemporary, and exotic yet elegant designs. She celebrated the launch of her line this week, along with Carlos Mota, by outfitting the VIP Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge at New York Fashion Week with her designs. What do you think of the bold fabric, can you see Iman in your home?Iman Home fabricIman Home fabricIman Home fabricIman Home fabricIman Home fabric
