From the Runway to Your Walls

What happens when a fashion designer and former color consultant with her own line of paint team up? You get paint colors inspired by runway fashions. Fashion great Cynthia Rowley recently teamed up with Devine Color founder Gretchen Schauffer to create a paint palette based on her fall 2011 ready-to-wear collection. We love seeing how fashion translates into interior design and vice-versa, so we were thrilled when we came across the news of the pairing.

The palette of 10 paint colors, the “Devine Color Curated by Cynthia Rowley,” offers the same richness, decadence and luxury seen in her clothing.  Rowley used the palette to celebrate the timelessness and beauty of rich colors, feminine confidence and limitless self-expression. And although the palette took inspiration from Rowley’s fall line the mix of colors are perfect to use no matter the season. Take a look at a few examples from “Devine Color Curated by Cynthia Rowley,” would you take inspiration from the runway for the walls in your home?

The mansion features a neo-Federalist style complete with four stories, 16 rooms and 10,000 square feet. The show will begin April 28, 2011 and run until May 26, 2011 with ticket prices set at $30. Pantone Fall 2011 Color Report

Pantone Releases Fall 2011 Color Report

Does it seem as though Pantone just recently released the 2o11 color of the year? Well now they’ve released their Fall 2011 Color Report during New York Fashion Week. Every year a team of fashion designers reveal their color inspirations for the design industry which always end up being the most popular and sought after. This year designers have combined bright colors with staple neutrals. The combination is stated to be reminiscent of the complementing colors artists use in paintings.

This year’s must have colors for fall include Bamboo, Emberglow, Honeysuckle, Phlox, Cedar, Deep Teal, Nougat, Orchid Hush, and Quarry. And as fashion and interior design so often go hand in hand, these colors will play major roles in interiors throughout the year. While surfing the net for inspiration we came across a few examples of the colors translated into interior design, take a look…

2011 Atlanta Market Trends

A few weeks ago the 2011 Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishing Market took place at the AmericasMart in downtown Atlanta. The trade show drew in interior design professionals from all over searching for this year’s trends in home furnishings. The overarching design trends for furniture, fabrics and accessories emerged as they always do and they include hand-made items and those with Old World finishes.

Industry experts believe that the trend of hand crafted furnishings come from the takeover and over availability of increasingly modern decor. Handmade furniture and accessories have the ability to warm up a room with a familiar texture. The Old World furnishings making their way onto the scene will be reminiscent of the classic style found throughout European homes. Aged leather and antique finishes will be popular in throughout the trend, but in a more streamlined design.

Take a look at some pictures from the Market that we found on casasugar of the hand made and Old World style trends.
