We all have a favorite celebrity, and we all wonder about the way they live outside of the public eye. We wonder how their bedroom is decorated, what direction their celebrity interior designer chose for the great room and what do their kitchens looks like. We know many celebrities have personal chefs , but are the designs of their kitchens the epitome of glamour? Are they contemporary or do they have an welcoming design? We found a few celebrity kitchens on Attic Mag and InStyle. Take a look and tell us what you think. Are they what you expected— over the top or nice and lived in?

Designer to the Stars: Martyn Lawrence-Bullard

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a celebrity clientele? However, I hope that my clients feel as though I do treat them like “stars”.  They all mean just as much to me!  And I know for those of you who have followed my blog, you know it’s so very important to me that your home reflects you, and that your designer be conscience of your personal taste.  I do think one of Martyn Lawrence-Bullard strong points is that he does get into the homeowners personality and reflect that in his design work. BRAVO!  Take a peek at some of his amazing work…

Tip of the Week #15: Wall Art

Another great way to display a collection of art is to anchor it on either side of a beautiful bombe chest.  This photo is from a new collection from C.R. Laine furniture and was on display at the spring furniture market. I loved how the artwork really helped make the room setting shine.

Accessories and art are the final touches that make all the difference in a room scene. At The Decorative Touch we do all the final touches for you so you can relax! Why not just leave the key under the mat and come home to a beautiful, finished living space you will love to show all your neighbors. Get ready, the holidays are just around the corner.

Lovely Lucite

Plastic furniture is no longer regulated only to your child’s play area. Get in on the fun and decorate with Lucite. As we are seeing more and more of the acrylic furnishings, we are noting its design benefits. Being clear Lucite is extremely versatile and will coordinate with any interiors. The furniture will seem barely there giving the illusion of more space. The clean and polished lines of Lucite can be translated through small decorative pieces or larger furniture such as tables or chairs. Just as your kids’ furniture, the plastic is durable and easy to clean should there be any accidents. We are loving this plastic look of elegance, can you picture some lovely Lucite in your rooms?

Nook Style

You know exactly what you want the design of your living room to  be. You are even more positive about the design of your bedroom, but what about that random nook in your floor plan? Many people have a hard time deciding how to design a small recessed area. Do you continue with the design of the room it’s closest to, or do you give it its own design? There is no right answer, except the one that fits your preferences. However, nooks should never be neglected. Although small in size they can support a well thought out design. You can add unique seating, storage or a vignette. We found these wonderfully designed nooks and would like to share them with you. What  do you think of the designs? Ceiling Color

Look up. Literally. What do you see? When the majority of us look up we see plain, white, standard ceilings. When designing a room, the ceiling is often neglected, but they shouldn’t be. Painting the ceiling of your space enhances and completes your design.  Choose the dominant color in your room, or one that was used to accent and give your ceiling some color. Have fun with it by choosing a glossy paint, one that is pearlized or even lacquered. Call us today to help bring your ceiling color ideas to life.
